Reflections From Our Sisters
Volunteering at Girl Scouts on Tuesday's was one of the highlights of my last semester. After a couple visits, the girls started to recognize me and were excited to see me, some even gave me a nickname. Every week was filled with an interesting and creative new craft or project. It took a couple simple hours out of my week but it meant so much to the girls. - Megan Shea, Class of '17
I thought that the Tutu Trot was a fantastic way for Gamma Phi women to come together. It created a sense of community between the active members and the alum members of the sorority and I really felt a sense of sisterhood during the event. - Katie Goddard, Class of '15
Watching the lantern lighting ceremony made me realize how important Relay for Life really is. It seems as if every single person participating had been touched by cancer in some way, whether it be a loved one or a family friend. It's humbling to see how wide spread it really is and how necessary the fight for a cure is. It was a great experience to work toward more birthdays with my sisters and best friends.
As a Gamma Phi Beta, we strive to uphold the highest type of womanhood so we can be positive role models and build other strong girls. Through my own volunteer efforts and the efforts of the chapter, it has been so rewarding to watch my mentee at Girl's Inc. and the young women in our girl scout troop gain confidence, accountability, and develop a commitment to doing the right thing. Thanks to Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, my eyes have been opened to the impact I can have on others and the world. - Kristin Probst, Class of '17
I have had the opportunity to see my sisters work to build strong girls in so many ways, however I'd have to say my favorite memory is of the Tutu Trot. I'd have to say the best part was seeing the girls all dressed up in their tutus, dads and brothers even joined in on the fun. It filled my heart with joy to see young girls so happy and comfortable in their own skin. Two of our sisters dressed up as mascots, and the girls absolutely adored singing and dancing with them. Not only was this a wonderful event for out chapter to help build strong girls, but it was also a great bonding experience for us as well.
Volunteering at the Girl Scout Pizza Party was so rewarding. I got to see how happy and energetic the girls were while participating in activities with us. It just warmed my heart.
